Join Us For Our Second Rancho 3M Shoebox Drive! [UPDATED]
See the original post below, but first an update from Jon & Ashley:
Hi Church Family,
We want to provide an update regarding our outreach to Rancho 3M. It has come to our attention that in order to cross the border most effectively, we need to change the delivery method of our outreach. For this reason, we will no longer be packing shoeboxes. Instead, all the items will be transported to the Ranch during the week leading up to December 13th and our team from church will pack bags to hand out to the community in the morning. We will begin handing out these bags in the afternoon.
If you were unable to attend the meeting this morning after the service and interested in going over with Jon please email Jon and plan on joining us next Saturday, December 6th at the church building from 10am to 12pm to prepare for our time in Mexico. On Saturday, December 13th, all you need is a passport and a heart to serve. We will leave from Fabens at 8am and arrive back in Fabens between 4 and 5pm. (Before sundown)
Here's what we are still in need of in order to reach our goal of 200 gift bags:
Rice - 85 lbs
Beans - 100 lbs
Canned Tuna - 260 5-7 oz cans
Toys - 130 (spread out evenly with regard to the original list)
1 quart Ziplock Bags - 600 (these are 300 for around $6 at Target)
Monetary donations are Welcome?

Thank you for your prayer and support for this mission!

Cross of Grace,
Rancho 3M is in a high need area that was ravaged by the drug wars a few years ago and
is in desperate need of the Gospel. Last year the church was able to donate items for 200
boxes of toys, books, and Bibles, and 100 bags of food to hand out to the community
around the Ranch. A small team from our church was able to go to the Ranch and
distribute the boxes last year.
We believe the Lord has laid on our hearts a vision for how we can most effectively serve
this year. The second greatest need in the area around the Ranch is for physical
nourishment. For that reason each box this year will contain a minimum of 1 pound of
rice, a pound of beans and 2-4 cans of tuna fish. We would also like to put in
toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a small, age-appropriate toy.
The greatest need in this area is the need for the saving grace of Jesus through the good
news of the Gospel. For that reason, we will be putting a Spanish Translated New
Testament in each box. Below are ways you can help:
- Pray! Pray that enough donations will be received and most importantly pray that the Gospel will be preached!
- Donate! We will need donations either for the boxes or financial support. Please pick up a list of needed items. We need these by no later than December 6th.
- Come with us! Lord willing, Jon will be going to the Ranch on December 13th to help hand out the presents to the community. He would love it if you would join him. His hope is that we would be able to greet the people as they come in, hand them a box that has physical nourishment in it, and then have someone to walk them out while telling them of the good news of the Gospel. All you will need is a passport and a heart to serve.
There will be many more details in the weeks to come but for now pray about how you
and your family might be able to get involved! If you have questions please talk to Jon.
