“Wanted for Hazardous Journey” — An Invitation to Our Cohorts
I want to invite you to participate in our mens and womens servant leader cohorts. They’re a once a month 8 month journey to learn to be a servant leader wherever God gives you influence and responsibility.
Servant Leaders Wanted
There’s a legendary advertisement that was alleged used to find men for Ernest Shackleton’s expedition to the arctic. It goes like this:
"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success.”
That ad sparks my sense of adventure and makes me want to sign up. But why? Because I think deep down we want to be part of something, we want to matter, we want to do something worth doing.
But Jesus’ model of leadership and adventure is often very different from the world, yet just as challenging and glorious. He says in Mark 9:35, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” Any place God gives us responsibility or influence we want to use as a place to serve others as servant leaders.
That’s what our cohorts aim to do. They seek to lay out the eternal priorities of our purpose and mission and give people the tools to pursue them wholeheartedly.
The Curriculum
We’ll have one group for men and one group for women. The men will study Nehemiah. The women will study Ruth and 3 John. But they’ll both cover key topics like:
How do I know what God wants me to do with my life?
How can I manage my life and schedule to better pursue what God has for me?
How do I persevere in seasons of difficulty and challenge?
How can I become a servant leader where God has placed me in life right now?
The Commitment
We’re asking anyone signing up for the cohort to commit to being present for the meetings.
